Our Story
The Better Box is an organic vending machine company on a mission to make grab-and-go food actually good for you. Designed for people who care about what they put in their bodies—even when they’re in a rush—The Better Box offers a curated selection of clean, nutritious snacks and drinks without the artificial junk. Every item is thoughtfully chosen to be organic, free from what we don’t want to eat, and packed with real ingredients that fuel your day, not derail it.
Started by Vermont locals Danielle and Ryan, The Better Box began with a simple frustration: why was it so hard to find snacks we felt good giving our kids and ourselves? We set out to change that by curating clean, thoughtfully sourced options (with a few local Vermont favorites) so grab-and-go could finally mean good-for-you.

It's a smart vending machine — you tap your card at the door, take what you want, and you're automatically charged only for what you grab. No buttons, no codes.

When you open the door, a temporary $10 hold is placed on your card — this is just a pre-authorization, not a charge. Once the door closes and the machine tallies what you took, the hold is replaced by your actual total. The $10 disappears within 1–3 business days.

The Better Box accepts all major credit and debit cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported on most machines. Sorry, no cash!

We'd love that! We handle everything — placement, stocking, and maintenance. There's typically no cost to host. Reach out through our contact page and we'll get back to you quickly.

We monitor inventory remotely and restock regularly — typically 1–2 times per week depending on the location. If something is running low, you can always reach us through the contact page.
